Dear Black,
I found you while browsing the net searching for information about Candy Barr (InforSeek). She has been my dream sex object since 1956 when I was 12 years old. That's when she became the Female Lead in my "Stranded on a Desert Island" fantasy. (She replaced Marilyn Monroe, and later exchanged roles with Bridget Bardot). Of course, it was a hot desert island, and she wore little or no clothing, and she did anything I asked, because I was her protector, and since she had gotten to "know" the real me, and what a neat guy I really am, she became my "Love Slave"....(sometimes it was the other way around)..Back to reality..In 1973 I bought "Smart Alec" in 8mm, from Diverse Industries, on Melrose Avenue, in Van Nuys California. By then my porn collection was growing, but even though the quality was poor, It became a big hit of my gang's "EOM Friday Nite Poker Party". We usually had 2 or more tables and I won a lot because everyone was watching the films, and not the game (I had already previewed them, many, many times). But all play would cease during Candy's film.
As a result of her influence I married a girl who resembled her. My friends all had something to say about Jean, "Hey! She looks like Candy Barr!"....."Booker, is she CB's sister?" Comments like that. The film was stolen in 1980, I was destroyed, I rank the pain and sorrow I felt behind the death of my German Shepard Schtozie, and my divorce with Jean. In 1986, I had clients in Jackson County, City of Edna, and I found out SHE lives there! I finally saw her in person at the HEB's in downtown Edna. I wanted to go up and say a million things to her in just a few words, express my appreciation, adoration, but I was not in control, my hands were shaking, I felt like fainting, I freaked! The checkout lady asked if I was ill, could she help me, but I let CB pass without saying anything..frozen with awe....I heard later that she had moved back to Brownwood...Damn! She still has it! She looked good. She still had what-ever-it-is/was. I'm not a foot fetish freak or whatever, but she wore sandals and her feet were bare! Yahhh! But to hell with Marshall Blonsky, who lost your film...And to hell with Buck Henry for copping it..(anybody who would start a "Society to Clothe Naked Animals" has to have something really wrong with them)..
Also, (already in Hell I'm sure), Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade, who politically motivated, made CB spend her prime years at TDC in Huntsville. It was alleged that CB became a lesbian as a result of her incarceration, and stole some cop's wife in Lake Tawakoni)...My peace with Henry Wade will be made when I piss on his grave. I may even smoke a joint and smush it out on his tombstone....I hope my rambling BS has bought you a little joy. I'm going back and read the rest of your page. Just your mention of CB let me know she had an impact on you, like she did on me, and I thought I'd share this with you..... Please Free to Call on Me..

Dear Mr. Aronowitz,
I just wanted to tell you thank you for posting in Rec Music Dylan, even though you were insulted. I can't believe I even have your e-mail address. I don't know if you are exactly what I was looking for, but I was asking to find someone like you, and we do get what we need, don't we, sometimes?
I only read your first story, but I plan to go back in tomorrow, if it doesn't disappear before then.
Thank you, again, for showing me that people far more important than me can feel blacklisted too, and go crazy because of it.
Live on,
Peggy

Happy New Year from Hoboken! Yes, it's Gary Pig here, back from a long trip to O Canada (where I happened to run across you in Carol Bedford's book "Waiting For The Beatles"). Just finished getting reacquainted with your website, and at the risk of over-fawning, your "Beatles Triumphant Return To Liverpool" was absolutely ASTOUNDING. Can you give me as much as a clue why this material (save for the odd minced-up bit in Mojo Magazine) isn't being Published Somewhere???
Has the book bizness really gotten that out-of-touch and/or soft? (oh, Wait A Minute: I just remembered... the Music Biz has!) at any rate, Looking forward to reading you again soon (why, tho, couldn't I access Column 16 tonight?), and wishing you All the Best in '97 and beyond,
(PS: go easy on Murray the K, will you?)

Hi Al! I'm sure you know you're immortalized (further immortalized?) in tapes from the Get Back sessions, wherein John says, "Al Aronowitz if you'll Aronowitz and we'll both Aronowitz together."
Great to see you on the Web. I ran into your page and got a big kick out of reading the unedited versions of these articles (after having read the pot story in Mojo).
Just wondering - In what way have you been blacklisted?
Thanks again for the superb writing.
Ted

AND FURTHERMORE. . .
And here's a letter I felt like sending to the editor of the New York Times:
I salute Gloria Steinem for having introduced "Ms." into the English language as a compromise between "Miss" and "Mrs." but now she wants us to dump on everybody who had anything to do with a movie which she says glorifies one of the worst scum bags who ever walked the face of this earth. But I saw the movie and I don't think it glorified Larry Flynt so much as it humanized him. Even Gloria Steinem can be humanized.
I'm afraid that Ms. Steinem has let her agenda blur her vision. I saw the movie as a pretty good work of art. I enjoyed it. ##
